Become a member of "New York SAORI-kai"
Welcome to the New York SAORI-kai. ('kai' means a club or gathering in Japanese.)We gather every other month at Loop of the Loom to reveal our SAORI works.
Go to Facebook and search "New York SAORI-kai" where you can see many SAORI works.
SAORI-kai was started in January, 2008 by students of Loop of the Loom who urged me to set up a New York gathering for anyone interested in SAORI. No experienced necessary.
The aim of this meeting is comprehended in these SAORI slogans.
- Consider the differences between people and machines.
- Let’s adventure beyond our imaginations.
- Let’s look out through eyes that shine.
- Let’s learn from everyone in the group.
We try to follow these four SAORI slogans because to free ourselves from conventional ways of weaving is sometimes very challenging for us. Bring your work. Don't worry if you only have a small piece. Show us, wear it and tell the story about it. Ask questions. Share your ideas. Improve your skills!
We welcome the inexperienced and the beginner. See you at the New York SAORI-kai!

Loop of the Loom Co-op
Use your skill and experience for teaching SAORI to others. If you'd like to help us as an assistant instrustor at our studio or off-site workshops, just sign the registration form. Must be completed Advanced Class and received approval from a SAORI certified instructor. Also we will take your SAORI works on consignment to sell at craft show, websites (LoopoftheLoom.com, Etsy.com) or in our studio.

Weaving in Action!
Attention "Loop of the Loom Co-op" members and SAORI loom
owners! Loop of the Loom needs your help!Can you donate your time and possibly your loom for events and workshops that are outside the studio? These would be opportunities to visit schools, hospitals, facilities and homes where SAORI weaving would be very beneficial.
