"Fashion School on 87" at Loop of the Loom!
“I will be teaching a series of fashion classes and workshops at the studio
on Thursday nights and Sundays. These classes include fashion sewing, fashion illustration/design, and fashion workshops every other week. Teens from the ages 12-18 are invited to come
learn and explore their future in fashion at the studio. I will be
hosting an open house each weekend until the start of classes to meet with

PRIVATE/GROUP CLASS SCHEDULE
01: Fashion Sewing for Beginners
3 hours per class (10 week course, $1,200)
12-18 yrs (age exceptions by interview)
Basic patternmaking and sewing techniques are developed as students design
and construct tote bags and circle skirts from first sketch to finished
product. Students will feature their work in fashion exhibit with students
from illustration/design class.
02: Fashion Illustration/Design
3 hours per class (10 week course; $1,200)
12-18 yrs (age exceptions by interview)
This course introduces beginning fashion illustration as well as basic
fashion design including concept boards, collage, and color stories. Students
work towards building a pre-college fashion portfolio. The last class students
showcase their design work at fashion exhibit with students from fashion
sewing class.
03: Independent Study
3 hours per session
Work on your own design or sewing project through guidance of instructor. We can discuss duration of study according to the difficulty of the project.
About the Instructor:
Sarah Boom received her BFA in fashion design at The School of the Art
Institute of Chicago where she began teaching fashion design for the Early
College Program. She also co-taught a fashion program funded by the City of Chicago at Gallery
37: After School Matters. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions as well as The
Chicago Reader.
